Hi, I'm Kiah
ILLUSTRATIVE BLACKWORK stylized
Thank you for your interest in working with me. My books are currently closed but will be opening for Nov/Dec bookings in late September. If you’d like to stay up to date through my mailing list please free to send me an email at email@example.com
Currently I work mostly in black. This is my default but I am starting to dip my toes into experimenting with color, so if that is something you are interested please let me know.
I am most at home with creatures, natural forms, landscapes and scenes, Sketchy drawings, woodcut style images and tattoos that will allow me to experiment.
Below is my Q&A for my general tattooing practice:
How do I book with you?
Generally when I open my books I’ll send out an email to my mailing list first, and then update the website and social media with a booking form a few days after. The booking form will have everything you need to know about my process, including a place to describe what you are hoping for (if custom) or to choose a predesigned flash piece. I aim to work collaboratively and welcome whatever details you can provide to guide me in the design process. Once I get the form from you I will email to let you know if the project is something I can take on and if so to book the appointment and take a $30 deposit. From there we will email until we come up with a final design. Please note I charge an additional $30 drawing fee for each custom piece. I try to have flash available at all times to choose from which does not not require an extra fee.
How much will it cost?
I price things either at a flat rate or by the hour, depending on the piece. Hourly I charge $100-150 per hour sliding scale and leave up to your discretion to gauge where you fall on that range (infographic that I find helpful below). I generally work fast. For transparency, the shop takes 40% of the money from each tattoo. I will always give you an estimate before the appointment based on the size and placement and am happy to work within a budget. If this price is still inaccessible for you, I am happy to brainstorm ways we can make it work, just let me know. Making my tattoos as accessible as possible while also making a living wage is important to me and I am always up for your thoughts on this process and open to change.
What is the accessibility of the shop?
Unfortunately, the shop is currently on the 2nd floor and has no elevator. If this is prohibitive let me know and I will try my best to find a solution.
What sorts of designs do you like tattooing?
Currently I work mostly in black. This is my default but I am starting to dip my toes into experimenting with color, so if that is something you are interested please let me know. I enjoy a wide variety of imagery but am most at home with creatures, natural forms, landscapes and scenes, Sketchy drawings, woodcut style images and tattoos that will allow me to experiment. I welcome a wide variety of ideas and will let you know if I think it is something I can do well. Things that I'm not good at are: geometric patterns, realism, lettering (unless you want it to look like my 8th grade handwriting).
