FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do we offer piercings?

At this time Thorntail Tattoo does not offer piercings. For some, Facebook can be misleading since the platform has us listed as a tattoo and piercing studio. Unfortunately, that was the only option available when setting up our business page.

What is the studio’s minimum?

Thorntail Tattoo’s minimum tattoo cost is $60.

Do we offer walk-ins?

At this time, we are not excepting walk-ins and are appointment only. In light of Covid-19 we are trying to keep traffic at a minimum, only allowing one artist and their client/clients in per day. We are doing this to optimize the health and safety of our artists, customers, and all the families involved. Hopefully this policy will change in the upcoming months, we are looking forward to seeing everyone!

How do I book an appointment?

The best way to book an appointment with us is to first, find which artist you would like to work with. From there you can contact the artist directly using their personalized form and discuss the booking process further. You will be able to access all four or our artist’s portfolios, and contact information right here on our website in the Artist link.

How does the consultation process work?

Due to Covid-19 we are trying to keep the consultation process as virtual as possible, each artist has their own preferred method of doing so, whether it be e-mail, video chat, phone call, etc. Typically, we do half hour to hour long in person consultations, which are still available if preferred.

How do deposits work?

Deposits vary from artist to artist and also dependent on the tattoo. A deposit is required to schedule your appointment, and is NON REFUNDABLE. If for some reason you need to reschedule your appointment, that needs to be done at a minimum of 72 hours before the appointment. If you reschedule before 72 hours your deposit will still be honored.

How much will my tattoo cost?

We charge $100.00-$140.00 an hour depending on which artist you are working with. Be sure to discuss artist rates and any budgets you may have during your consultation process.

What should I do to prepare for my appointment?

It's always best to eat a meal and have a good nights rest prior to your tattoo. Feel free to bring snacks and plenty of drinks along with you! Hydration plays a big role in the healing process and your comfort level during the tattoo process.

What do we use for aftercare?

We Bactine every tattoo before we apply the bandage. If you don’t have any allergies to adhesives we use a product called Second Skin. Second Skin is a clear, breathable bandage that is left on for up to 6 days, allowing for an easier healing process. However if you are allergic to adhesives we will coat your tattoo in our organic handcrafted salve and wrap it in plastic wrap. Each client will go home with a full detailed sheet that extensively explains the healing process as well as proper aftercare.

Do we offer touch-ups?

We offer a one time touch up on all of our tattoos if needed. Exceptions include hands, feet, and fingers where we do not offer free touch-ups.

Do the artists do commissions?

Artists absolutely offer commissions of all types. Be sure to reach out to your prefered artist to discuss your ideas further, commissions are all dependent on artist availability.
